What drew you to
coaching youth soccer?
"I
think what drew me to coaching youth soccer was the fact that it
was going to be very challenging. Being able to coach children
from their soccer beginnings, at a young age where everything is
new to them, is a great challenge."
What do I find most
rewarding as a trainer?
"It
has to be seeing the kids enjoying themselves and looking
forward to their next practice. If they are not enjoying soccer
then you as a coach are not enjoying soccer. There has to be the
right balance when coaching youth soccer. You have to make
sure soccer is fun for them but also a learning process."
What
is the best part of the job?
"The
best part of coaching youth soccer is seeing the improvement
from the kids week in and week out. When you begin to notice a
great improvement you can see they trust you enough and know
that you believe in them. There is nothing more satisfying as a
trainer than when you see a kid trying something in a game that
you have worked on in training. It just shows how much
confidence they have in themselves. This to me means they are
enjoying soccer and have every belief in their ability on the
field."
